If your employees are exposed to noise, dust, silica, fumes, chemicals, hazardous substances or vibration, your business may need to monitor their health. We help Auckland employers identify early changes in worker health and meet their workplace health and safety responsibilities.
Does my business need health monitoring?
WorkSafe advises that businesses should, so far as is reasonably practicable, monitor workers' health where they may be exposed to health risks. Work-related illness isn't always immediate, WorkSafe estimates 750 to 900 people die from work-related disease in New Zealand each year, more than die from workplace safety incidents.

If workers require hearing protection, respiratory protection or other PPE because of a workplace exposure, that's often a sign the underlying exposure and the need for health monitoring should be assessed. Regular monitoring helps identify early changes in a worker's health and check whether workplace controls are actually working.
What's included
Every assessment is tailored to the hazards your workers face, but a typical $199 Annual Health Monitoring Assessment includes:
Book Health Monitoring- Occupational health questionnaireA review of workplace exposure and any changes since baseline or previous monitoring
- Vitals and general health checkBlood pressure, pulse, weight and BMI
- Hearing assessmentAudiometry / workplace hearing testing, where indicated
- Respiratory assessmentSpirometry / lung function testing, where indicated
Vision screening, skin surveillance and hand-arm vibration surveillance are added where indicated, along with a review of relevant PPE/RPE and comparison with previous or baseline results. Specialised investigations or biological monitoring, where required, are additional to the $199 per employee fee.

(09) 631 5305Is this the same as a pre-employment medical?
No. A pre-employment or baseline medical assesses health in relation to a proposed role. Ongoing health monitoring looks for changes in health that may have developed following workplace exposure. We provide both.
Who carries out the monitoring?
Assessments are carried out by our Registered Nurse, with medical review by Dr Gavin Lobo available where further assessment is required.
What happens if a worker's results change?
An abnormal result doesn't automatically mean someone can't work. We compare findings with baseline and previous results, and may recommend repeat testing, further medical review, or a look at workplace controls.
What information does my business receive?
An Occupational Health Monitoring Clearance Report covering the monitoring outcome, whether further assessment is required, and any workplace recommendations. Worker medical information stays confidential, detailed diagnoses aren't routinely shared with employers.
Do you offer baseline and ongoing monitoring?
Yes. WorkSafe recommends a baseline assessment at the start of employment, followed by regular ongoing monitoring, so later results have something to be compared against. If we've already completed a worker's baseline, we compare against that.
